The medium of instruction and examination is
ENGLISH. Duration of each course is for four academic years.
Each academic year is from 1st July to 30th June and divided
into two semesters. Besides academic activities in the
college, the courses include visits to work sites and practical
training in industries.
University Examinations are held at the end of
each semester. 75% attendance in theory and practical classes
is essential for eligibility to sit for examinations. Students
will have to apply for appearing in examinations, both for
regular and back subjects, after paying requisite fee. A
student is not allowed to sit in an examination without valid
admit card.
LATERAL ENTRY TO SECOND YEAR CLASS
As a follow up action of
AICTE Scheme for admission of Diploma holders to Degree
Courses, Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal has
introduced a scheme for Lateral Entry by Diploma holders from
Polytechnics directly in the second year class of Engineering
Colleges from academic session 2001-02, subject to following
conditions (may be changed from time to time) :
a) Such Diploma holders should
have been bonafide students of West Bengal and also permanent
residents of the State at least for 10 years.
b) Such Diploma holders should
have passed Diploma Courses from an AICTE approved polytechnic
of the Country.
c) Diploma holders with minimum
60% marks in the relevant discipline and having cleared the
special joint entrance examination of the State Govt. for such
students, are eligible.
d) A Diploma holder will be
admitted to Degree Course in Engineering in respect of the
discipline in which diploma is awarded. ( In case of
Information Technology Degree Course, a diploma holder in
Computer Engineering also will be eligible )
e) Admission of the Diploma
holders to the Degree Courses will be strictly in order of
merit.
f) Lateral Entry for Diploma
holders will be allowed in the 2nd year 1st semester level.
Seats, in addition to the sanctioned intake at 1st year level
limited to a maximum of 10% will be reserved for such students.
