Three of the leading technology companies in the world, Microsoft, Qualcomm, and Cadence, will be funding this Initiative.

In the first phase of this program; 50 colleges have been shortlisted among all technical institutes of INDIA among which Dr.B.C Roy Engineering College;Durgapur was the only college to be selected from West Bengal.

Under the agreement, UC Berkeley and UC San Diego, as well as Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, the State University of New York at Buffalo, Case Western Reserve University and HARWARD University, will send their best faculty to teach in India via AMRITA's e-learning setup and ISRO's EDUSAT. AMRITA Vishwa Vidyapeetham (a deemed University established by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math and headquartered in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) will be coordinating the delivery of all of the courses by the visiting professors to Indian Colleges and Universities. The proposed program holds great promise of taking advantage of the tremendous synergy between the United States and India, and makes it possible to build a truly ambitious education system in advanced technology areas for the growth and development of India.

The program exploits efficient digital connectivity through satellite and interactive technologies developed by ISRO and AMRITA .That the program also ensures quick and simultaneous delivery of lecture sessions to undergraduate (BS, B.Tech, B.E.) and postgraduate (MS, M.Tech, M.E. and Ph.D.) level college and university students.

Dr. B.C Roy Engineering College has come up with high end  E-Learning Classroom recently  for the above program with the support of Department of Science and Technology, BEL and ISRO. The proposed program will provide  to the students of this college access to subject experts and to digitally archived instructional material. covering the disciplines of  Computer Science & Engineering, Information and Communication Technologies, Electronics & Communication, VLSI and Semiconductor Devices, Manufacturing, Material Sciences, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Nanotechnology, Medical and Biological Sciences, Natural Sciences ( including Physics and Chemistry ), Mathematical Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Business Administration and Management Sciences, Media and Communication, etc.
